After a dramatic week that had seen the departure of manager Dean Barker, Kings did their talking on the pitch and under caretaker manager Ryan Jackett, produced a committed performance that stunned Isthmian Premier leaders Folkestone Town and saw them progress to the Third Qualifying round of the F A Cup for the first time in their history. Mitchell Weiss gave the unbeaten visitors cause for concern as early as the fourth minute when a Charlie Pattison cross found Mitchell Weiss and defender Matt Newman made a brave block as the striker pulled the trigger, but then had their own moment when Ira Jackson got a rebound in space from a corner, only for Melvin Minter to make a low save. Josh Coldicott-Stevens sent a powerful twenty yarder just over and a Harry Crawford header was well held, but Kings took a deserved lead on 25 minutes when Kane Farrell was given back a partially cleared corner and sent a pinpoint cross to Lloyd Doyley, who took it on the half-volley to rifle the ball into the top of the net. Keeper Tim Roberts then pulled off a superb double save from Harry Crawford and Charlie Pattison to stop Kings increasing their advantage, but the home side had a let-off when Jerson Dos Santos skied the ball over both bar and prone keeper after Minter had punched a free kick out. Roberts made another excellent save from a Pattison header and a thoroughly entertaining half ended with Callum Davies hitting the bar for the visitors. Invicta made two half time substitutions as they chased an equaliser, but it was Kings who got the vital second goal ten minutes in, started when Kyle Connolly surged down the right. His cross found Charlie Pattison, whose acute shot seemed to take a deflection across goal, landing at the feet of Mitchell Weiss, who tapped the ball into an unguarded net. Langley looked to be totally in command of the tie as Folkestone could make little progress against a defence that looked more compact than of late and although the home support in a large crowd glanced at their watches as the clock ticked down, the visitors looked to be a beaten side. So it proved, as Kings rammed their advantage home in the last few minutes with both substitutes taking centre stage. Matty Campbell-Mhlope put Charlie Ruff into a goalscoring position and although Roberts blocked his shot, the provider was on hand to convert the rebound Minutes later, as the game entered time added on, Ruff latched onto a pass and beat the keeper again to complete a spectacular victory and a good day for the Club and its young caretaker manager.
