No. 7 Saturday 31st August 2013. F A Cup – Preliminary Round
Kings Langley 2 (Lee Burgoyne 25, Adam Hallissey 83 )
Newport Pagnell Town 1 (Dean Buss 13)
There was a lively opening to this tie, with Shaun Owens’ rasping shot saved by Josh McAdoo in the first few seconds, Lee Jones just wide for the visitors and Gary Connolly’s shot on the run testing McAdoo again, but it was the Swans who drew first blood as a corner was hooked back by John Thorpe and his centre back partner Dean Buss fired them ahead. Kings were unable to get their trademark passing game together until a good combination between Shaun Owens and Adam Hallissey delivered the ball wide left to Lee Burgoyne and his spectacular shot found the far corner of the net. Owens, Hallissey and Joe Gallagher then went close as Kings closed the half looking for the lead. Despite a double interval home substitution, it was the visitors who came back to have the better of the second period, forcing a series of corners that saw Danny Hutchins clear off the line with Ant Ladyman beaten. While their attacks were more numerous, they floundered on the cool heads of Craig Preston and Dean Hitchcock and Kings more spasmodic efforts looked the more dangerous, Ritchie Hanlon and Adam Hallissey off target with headers when well placed. Then with seven minutes to go, a Danny Hutchins’ corner was headed on by Callum Adebiyi and Adam Hallissey’s downward header found the net from close range to put Kings in dreamland and the next round at Wealdstone.
