No. 18 Saturday 19th October 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Risborough Rangers 0
Kings Langley 1 (Hallissey 14)
The defining moment of a drab game came on the quarter of an hour mark as Dean Hitchcock’s long high through ball caused indecision between Rangers keeper Steve Clark and his fellow defender, allowing Adam Hallissey to nip between them for a typical goal-poacher’s finish. Any thoughts of building on that slowly ebbed away as the visitors struggled on an energy sapping pitch and Rangers inched their way back into the game with a James Shrimpton header just over and Dean Hitchcock blocking a certain goal after the post had been struck. The second half showed little improvement as Ant Ladyman spilled a shot and substitute Jake Dell contrived to put the ball past the post. Kings responded with a Connor Toomey header just wide from a Jack Johnson cross and then both Luke Ladyman and Craig Preston had successive shots cleared off the line. As the visitors summoned reserves to finish slightly the stronger, Joe Gallagher had a shot just over and sub Mitchell Weiss beat the keeper but was wide of the mark. Not really one for the spectator, despite Rangers excellent Under Sevens participation as guards of honour for the emerging teams, half time penalty takers and raucous supporters, but Kings were relieved to take the points with an under par performance.
