No. 3 Tuesday 13th August 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 3 (Connor Toomey 6, Callum Adebiyi 23, Sam Warrell 90)
Risborough Rangers 0
Newly promoted Rangers were unable to live with Kings’ opening blitz as Joe Gallagher found Connor Toomey wide left after six minutes and the wing back’s low shot was inches inside the near post. The home side were producing an impressive display of quick interpassing football and went further ahead when, after a period of pressure, Callum Adebiyi netted with a side-footed half volley from a Danny Hutchins corner. Rangers fought back though, with Sam Ward just wide and Jack Welch was desperately unlucky to see a left wing shot run along the underside of the bar, but Callum Adebiyi rode three tackles to put a final shot just past the post and both Joe Gallagher and Lewis Pritchard had shots cleared off the line. The visitors came out in the second half as a different proposition and with nothing to lose, went for constant attack. Kings were forced to soak up the pressure, while looking dangerous on the break and young keeper Josh Sear, called up as a late replacement, was suddenly far busier. He justified his selection with a superb point blank save from Laurence Clark and the Rangers wide man blazed a good chance over the bar five minutes from the end. Langley seemed to think that was enough, as they broke with a four man move involving Tom Carter, Connor Toomey, Jack Johnson and Sam Warrell, ending with the winger’s pass being rifled home by Warrell to end the contest.
