No. 8 Tuesday 3rd September 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 0
Southall 0
Kings returned to League duty after the heady F A Cup exploits of the weekend and entertained Southall, with both sides unbeaten in the League. The opening half reflected this, with chances few and far between, but Adam Hallissey was finding space on the left and sent over several top quality crosses, which deserved better than the sum total of a blocked Tom Carter shot. Southall, on the other hand, were finding it difficult to get that near to the Kings’ goal and a Jean-Claude Yabolia shot that brought a save from Ant Ladyman was the best of their efforts as the half ended with the otherwise immaculate Gary Jallow fumbling a cross and seeing Joe Gallagher’s shot blocked. The second half saw Kings up the pressure, get more of a presence in the opposition box and lay siege to the visitors’ goal as first Lee Burgoyne’s shot and Adam Hallissey’s scissors kick was saved and then a Hallissey through ball to Tom Carter was turned just wide. Carter then did everything right to unleash a shot that looked to have broken the deadlock until Jarrow pulled off a flying save and then saved with his feet from Connor Toomey. A Shaun Owen swerving corner nearly found the top far corner direct and a Paul Insley shot on the run was narrowly wide. Cyrus Vanterpool could have struck the sucker punch two minutes from time, but blazed over when well-placed and Kings had the final effort with a Burgoyne shot going close. A point won rather than two dropped, but the disappointment was tangible.
