Tom Carter came off the bench to keep Kings’ F A Cup ambitions alive with a late equalizer against Premiership side St. Margaretsbury. Langley had fallen behind after just seven minutes when Ricky Light rifled home after the defence failed to clear their lines and the home side struggled to make any impact until the 37th minute when Gary Coyle had a shot well saved by Matt Deamer. The midfielder then hit the bar, before Craig Lynskey and Jimmy Armstrong combined to give him an opening as the half ended, but his close range effort failed to trouble the keeper. St. Margaretsbury had taken the first half, but Kings shuffled the pack and found their rhythm in the second period and although Nathan Pooley had to make a saving tackle early on and the visitors netted while offside, Kings were now the side asking the questions. Jimmy Armstrong missed a golden opportunity to level on 77 minutes, but when Tom Carter was introduced minutes later, he was to prove the saviour. There seemed little danger when he picked up the ball wide left, but his 30 yard rocket gave Deamer no chance as it swerved into the far corner of the net. Ross Hampton pulled off a save from Anthony Anstead’s break and saw the away skipper screw the rebound wide, but Kings had the final chance when Gary Coyle’s low cross eluded everybody and condemned the tie to a replay on Tuesday.
