No. 50 16th April 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Welwyn Garden City 0
Kings Langley 3 (Joe Gallagher 7 pen, Adam Hallissey 30, Craig Lynskey 89)
Kings Langley’s endurance test of five matches in seven days ended at Welwyn Garden City, where they produced a first half display of passing keep-ball to take the sting out of the home team. The match strangely echoed the start of the game at Southall three days previously, with a second minute ‘goal’ (by Jack Johnson) disallowed and the award of a seventh minute penalty. Joe Gallagher stepped up to make sure the trip on Adam Hallissey was punished and Kings had the cushion they needed. Scott O’Donoghue had the Citizens first attempt on ten minutes and a Hallissey cross was blasted over by Ashley Harewood before home full back Derek Shemlon’s header was off target from a corner. With Kings still comfortable in possession, they doubled their lead on the half hour mark when wing back Tom Carter sent Craig Lynskey away on the left and his cross was turned in by the alert Adam Hallissey. City answered with a superb free kick from Scott O’Donoghue, but Ant Ladyman was equal to it, tipping the ball over the bar. The second half must have seemed a long one to Kings, but while they didn’t enjoy the same amount of possession, they still looked to have enough in hand for a City side that has been enjoying a good run of late. Such chances as there were fell to Kings, with Luke Ladyman just foiled by keeper Fred Hester, Craig Lynskey lobbing the keeper but inches wide and Adam Hallissey’s impressive run not being matched by the finish. However, it was the hard working Lynskey who had the last word, latching on to a sweet Joe Gallagher pass to finish a harder chance a minute from time. Line-up:- (3-4-3)
