No. 32 5h February 2013. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Kings Langley 3 (Callum Adebiyi 41, Adam Hallissey 51, Nathan Pooley 84)
Hoddesdon Town 1 (Ben Andreos 66)
After another three week lay-off due to weather, Kings demonstrated the strength in depth of their injury-hit squad to defeat a table topping team for the second match in succession. Clashes between these two rivals are always a close affair and despite being played at a furious pace with space a premium, the first forty minutes produced few clear chances, Luke Ladyman heading a goalbound shot over and an Adam Hallissey shot just wide at the other end. Gary Coyle got the ball in the net, but was adjudged to have handled, before Kings went ahead four minutes from the break, Callum Adebiyi getting his head to a Gary Coyle corner in a crowded box. Six minutes in to the second period, another corner caused consternation in the visiting ranks when Joe Gallagher worked a partial clearance to Ben Long and Reece Buck could only parry his powerful shot. The rebound fell to Adam Hallissey and the ex-Levy striker kept his cool to steer the ball through the keeper’s legs and open his account for the club. Kings were now dictating the play, but Town got back into the match when Ben Andreos fired home the aftermath of a free kick. Kings’ protests were loud and long, claiming a hand was involved, but officialdom was unmoved and the visitors, sensing a reprieve, had their best period of the match as they searched for parity. However, the final word went to Nathan Pooley, who came off an unaccustomed seat on the bench and directed a perfectly flighted free kick into the net after Ben Long had been fouled, thus ensuring the points for a hard working all round team performance.
