No. 25 17h November 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Chesham United Reserves 0
Kings Langley 4 (Jimmy Armstrong 34, 74, Nathan Pooley 48, Tom Carter 72)
A dour first half hour saw the crowd only roused twice, Nathan Pooley firing a shot just over the bar and Ant Ladyman quick off his line to stifle a rare threat. Both sides seemed intent on giving the ball away, but Kings were the first to raise their game and a corner resulted in Evan Connolly’s shot being charged down and Jimmy Armstrong re-act first to force the ball home from close range. Jack Johnson ended the half with an opportunist shot just wide, but Kings started the second half with much more purpose and doubled their lead when a searching Nathan Pooley left wing run and cross rebounded back into his path and his momentum saw him beat the keeper. With Liam James imposing at the heart of defence and Evan Connolly dictating central midfield, it was now a matter of time before the third and Jack Pattison’s speed and determination saw him reach a ball on the right touchline that he had no right to get, before his cross was powerfully headed home by Tom Carter. Two minutes later, United were under attack from the left when substitute Callum Adebiyi’s run and cross was perfect for Jimmy Armstrong to rise and glance a header beyond James Robins’ despairing dive. Kings closed the match with an Evan Connolly drive tipped round the post, but more importantly, the achievement of that elusive clean sheet.
