Match Preview: Risborough Rangers v Kings Langley

Dean Wigzell7 Jan - 11:39

Callum Humphrey takes a look at our delayed start to 2026.

Kings Langley will travel to Risborough on Saturday in what looks to be a hugely important game in their race for promotion.

The Rangers currently sit in fifth, with Kings a couple of places and points ahead of them in third, although Risborough do have two games in hand.

The reverse fixture at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium in late August marked a low point for Steve Heath’s men, who compounded a slow start to the season with a 4-0 loss to the Rangers.

But it also acted as a major wake-up call, forcing them to look in the mirror and take it upon themselves to turn their fortunes around.

And that they did, winning six out of their next seven and losing only once in 11 games to fire them to the top of the table.

A couple of slip-ups in December saw them give up first place to Winslow United, but they returned to winning ways in their last outing as Matt Bateman’s goal saw them past Harpenden Town in their final game of 2025.

They were unable to build on that momentum at the weekend, though, as Britain’s big freeze saw their game against Haringey Borough postponed, while Risborough’s trip to Dunstable suffered the same fate.

That kept the Rangers’ four-game winning streak intact, with no loss in their last six. Indeed, they’ve lost only twice in the league since a 2-0 defeat to Sawbridgeworth Town on 9 August.

Elliot Buchanan, who bagged a brace in that reverse fixture, is their captain and top scorer with 16 goals, and Andrei Chiriac, another scorer that day, is second with five.

The sides have also met in the league cup this term, with Risborough running out 2-1 victors at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium, despite a goal from Edu Toiny-Pendred.

Kings will be desperate to prevent it from being a hattrick of losses to the Rangers this season and will be hoping for a statement win with major implications at the top of the table.

Kick-off at The KAMTECH Stadium is at 3pm and tickets are available to buy here. The boys would love your support.
