Langley looking for back-to-back wins away at Potton United.
Kings Langley will hope to secure consecutive victories for the first time this season as they travel to Potton United on Saturday.
Steve Heath’s side returned to action at the weekend after a 12-day break, winners on the road at Harlow Town. Three of the five changes to the side beaten by Risborough last time out were familiar faces returning to the club - midfielders Jethro Hanson and Liam Greville and striker Edu Toiny-Pendred - providing greater depth and balance to the squad, but it was the other two alterations that proved decisive.
Skipper Alfie Osborne was back from injury to make his first appearance since the opening day and his impact was immediate, adding a much-needed calming presence to the backline and nodding home the winner from Louie Collier’s 66th-minute corner.
The other man to come in was Harry Peterson, promoted off the bench, and it was he who equalised just moments prior after Kings had fallen behind early in the second half.
Other chances came and went in what was a promising performance, but they’d have been more than happy to settle for the 2-1 win that marked their first in four league outings.
Prolonging momentum has been an issue so far this season, so they’ll be desperate to continue where they left off and put in another winning display on Saturday in Bedfordshire.
It’s been a struggle for their opponents, Potton United, to date, picking up just one win in their nine league contests. Most recently they fell out of the Hinchingbrooke Cup at the hands of Deeping Rangers on Tuesday evening, collapsing to a 3-0 defeat after the scores were level at half time.
Their only league win came in a tight battle against Crawley Green, edging out the same opposition that Kings thumped 6-1 by just a single goal, further suggesting Heath’s team head into Saturday’s meeting heavy favourites.
The Royals have struggled to replace the goals of Jordan Brown, who bagged 26 last year before heading to Arlesey in the summer, and leading their ranks this term is Devonte Simms with just three.
Kings will know, though, that nothing has come easy for them so far this season and they will require a professional, ruthless performance to put away Potton on their own turf.
For any fans looking to make the journey, head to Hutchinson Hollow, SG19 2LX, for Saturday’s 3pm kick off.
