Kings Langley will look to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat to Cambridge City in the Izuzu FA Trophy as they visit North Leigh for a league matchup.
Saturday’s hosts, the ‘Millers’, have had a tough start to their campaign, currently sitting in 19th place of the Southern League Division One Central.
After picking up just one point in their first five league fixtures, the weekend’s FA Trophy came as a welcome relief as they overcame Shaftesbury to claim the first victory of their season.
Kings, meanwhile, have enjoyed a more positive start in the league with four points from just three games placing them 12th in the table. With games in hand on those around them, they will be desperate to make the most of the extra fixtures and climb up the table.
Their last league tie, back on the 26th August, saw them defeated 4-2 at home to Hadley, despite goals from Bradley Smith and player-coach Jordan Parkes.
Kings’ sole league victory so far came back on the opening day at Kidlington and they followed that with a point against Enfield. Postponement of the fixture away at Biggleswade FC played its part in what’s been an interrupted campaign to-date which they will look to kickstart this weekend, before another short break from competitive action.
Sunday’s 1-0 loss away at Cambridge City not only put a halt to Kings’ Trophy campaign but also saw defender Matt Hall pick up an ankle injury that forced him to seek a hospital x-ray, leaving him a doubt for Saturday’s clash.
Parkes put the defeat down to the opposition taking their chances and a lack of spark in the final third and his side will be hopeful of addressing those issues and delivering a more complete performance in Oxfordshire this time out.
Last campaign’s meetings between the sides saw mixed results, with North Leigh emerging 4-1 victors in the first tie before Kings exacted revenge with a 5-1 win at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium later in the season.
For any fans wishing to make the trip west to the Eynsham Park, kick off is at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. Information on the ground and surrounding area can be found here.
