Match Preview: Kings Langley v North Leigh

After yet another postponement, with Friday night’s trip to Thame United called off due a frozen pitch, Kings will be desperate to get back to action as they host North Leigh this weekend.

Jordan Parkes’ men last took to the pitch on New Year’s Day - a 2-1 loss away at Hadley - and the disruptive weather has only prolonged a period of pain for the side. They have lost three on the bounce heading into this one, and their indifferent form has seen them slide into the bottom half and towards the relegation places.

Saturday provides a big opportunity, however, as North Leigh - the side propping up the standings with just six points so far this season - visit The Orbital Fasteners Stadium.

The Millers are still yet to complete their first fixture of 2025, with their game at Stotfold on Tuesday evening being called off due to fog after 77 minutes in strange circumstances, and their only win of the campaign to date came over Leverstock Green back in October. A goal difference of -49, 26 below the second worst side in the league, does not make pretty reading for manager Michael Hopkins, and their 64 goals conceded so far this season averages out at above two-and-a-half per game.

Those defensive vulnerabilities are ones which Kings, and in particular strike-pair Jonathan Lawson and Lance Williams, will be keen to exploit.

North Leigh currently hold the worst record for both goals conceded and goals scored, with their attack proving no more effective than their lacklustre work at the other end of the pitch. They’ve scored only 15 goals, and top scorer Kyle Chester has just three in an offensive force that seems far from flowing.

All things considered, Kings will fancy their chances of picking up their first points of the year at the weekend. They’ve already tasted success over their opponents once this term, overcoming them 2-0 in the reverse fixture in September, but will be taking nothing for granted with only two home league wins out of a possible 10.

They’ll have great ambitions of turning that sorry tale around this week though, as Leverstock Green make the short trip to WD4 just a few days after North Leigh; the rearranged derby scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening.

With Leverstock Green also in the relegation places, it could make for a pivotal week for Kings in turning their season around, moving away from the threat of the drop and beginning to once more look at the top half of the table.

They’ll need all of your support as they return home to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium for the first time in 2025. Get yourselves down to the ground on Saturday afternoon for a 3pm kick-off, with tickets available to purchase on the door.
