Match Preview: Kings Langley v Baldock Town

Dean Wigzell12 Jan - 11:54

Club Reporter Callum Humphrey takes a look at Saturday's match, as we welcome Baldock Town to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium.

After the weather has twice delayed Kings Langley’s start to the new year, they’ll be hoping to finally get 2026 underway with a bang as they host Baldock Town on Saturday.

Fixtures against Haringey Borough and then Risborough Rangers were both postponed thanks to either a frozen or waterlogged pitch, meaning Steve Heath’s side were last in action on 27 December, when Matt Bateman’s goal saw them to a 1-0 win over Harpenden Town.

Their visitors Baldock have also been sat on the sidelines for the last couple of weeks, having seen their scheduled game against Sawbridgeworth Town called off on Saturday.

Their last outing, played on the same date as Kings’, was a 1-0 win over Arlesey Town, whose ground they play their home games at.

That was a first win in 13 in all competitions for the Reds, who are 14th in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division table.

Coached by Rob Bates, Harleigh Johnson-Standley, a product of the club’s youth system, is their top scorer with six, while Joshua Kassaye has five.

For Kings, attention will now be on closing the gap that’s opened up between them and the league leaders, thanks to their recent lack of games.

Having led the pack not all that long ago, they’re now down in fourth - four points off Biggleswade United who are top.

In a tightly-packed division, with quality spread throughout the league, all Heath’s men can focus on is doing their own job.

Take care of their own business, and they’ll hope other things fall in their favour. Further twists and turns are inevitable with just under half of the season still to be played.

Tickets for The Orbital Fasteners Stadium’s first action of the year are available on the gate, with kick-off at 3pm on Saturday. The boys would love to see you there.
