Match Preview: Cambridge City v Kings Langley FA Trophy

Match Preview: Cambridge City v Kings Langley FA Trophy

Dean Wigzell29 Aug 2024 - 14:00

Last season's Isuzu FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round was played on the 9th September and saw Kings Langley host Cambridge City.

This season's Isuzu FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round will be played on Sunday 8th September and will see Kings Langley travel to Cambridge City.

Last time out it was The Lilywhites who came out victorious after a 20th minute Rene Howe goal was cancelled out by Joe Hood in the 30th minute and Stefan Broccoli with 7 minutes remaining on the clock.

Kings fell at the second hurdle in the Emirates FA Cup after losing to 1-0 away to Basildon United and will be hoping that this season's Trophy, a competition where their best finish saw them make it to the Third Qualifying Round back in 2016-17, can provide them with a much sought after cup run.

Isthmian League North Division side Cambridge, who also lost in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, have had a mixed start to the season, although striker George Smith has hit early season goal scoring form.

Kings have recently added to their troops with the signing of towering centre back Charne Lemba from Arlesey Town and will be hoping the likes of Isaac Pedro, Darnell Luke and Lorenzo Johnson can continue their solid starts to the season.

Following Kings disappointing 4-2 league defeat at the hands of Hadley on the August Bank Holiday Monday, they will be looking to get back to winning ways and progress to the next round of the Trophy.

For supporters travelling to the game, please remember the fixture will be played on SUNDAY 8th September at St Ives Town FC.
