Kings Langley head to Beaconsfield Town on Saturday, hoping to secure back-to-back league victories for the first time since consecutive wins over North Leigh and Northwood in September.
Jordan Parkes’s men are off the back of a mighty impressive performance over title-chasing Real Bedford on Tuesday evening, where they ran out 3-2 victors to secure their first win in 10 matches. They were determined, resolute and stood strong to the challenge of the league’s leading scorers, with only a late corner concession taking some gloss off what was a fine showing.
Adisorn Connolly, making his second appearance in the Kings Langley net, made some important saves, including a tremendous triple-stop to preserve the 2-1 lead held by the side at the time, and Ali Gould again stood out in a solid backline.
Bradley Smith scored his eighth goal of the league campaign with another cool, composed finish and Darnell Luke rounded off a hearty display in the midfield with his first goal of the season. James Towell punished Pirates keeper McGregor’s mistake for the other Kings goal, and the whole team will be keen to build on the momentum created on Tuesday ahead of the hectic festive period.
Their hosts, Beaconsfield Town, sit in 15th place, just four points off the relegation places. Their last game saw them suffer a late defeat at the hands of recent Kings victims, Real Bedford, but they claimed two-wins-in-two before that; first in the league over Enfield and then in the BBFA Senior Cup.
Leading their scoring charts is Eremide Lawal; the 23-year old has bagged on seven occasions in his 19 appearances so far this term, and he’s joined by only goalkeeper Edward Brearey in suiting up for every of the Rams’ league ties this season.
They will be energised by an extra three days of rest compared to their visitors, and will hope to utilise the home advantage perhaps afforded to them by the 3G astro surface of Holloways Park.
Three points would be huge for both sides on Saturday, as Beaconsfield look to move away from the drop zone and Kings aim to consolidate a place in the top half of the table, with the hope of pushing back toward the playoff places in the New Year.
Head to Holloways Park to catch the boys in action for the penultimate time in 2024, with kick off at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
