Girls will be able to play for Kings Langley FC for free in the 202/23 season thanks to a one of a kind sponsorship from Marlowe Digital.

We’re hugely excited about what this partnership will mean to girls in the local area

Kings Langley FC and Marlowe Digital are delighted to today announce a partnership that will see every girl across the club’s youth teams receive a full season of free football worth £250.

The partnership, believed to be the only one of its kind across Hertfordshire, will see Marlowe Digital make a significant contribution towards kits, equipment, training facilities and league membership for every single girl aged 6-18 playing for Kings Langley FC during the 2022/23 season.

With the country set to embark on a summer in which women’s football will be in the spotlight with the UEFA Women’s Euros taking place across England, the timing of the partnership could not be more perfect.

Kings Langley have already signed up four new girls teams to represent the club next season. They will join the team that this season played at U14 level and finished the season in style last weekend by celebrating a fantastic cup final victory.

The club hopes that the partnership with Marlowe Digital will lead to exponential growth in Kings Langley’s provision of girls’ football, an area that the club has long been keen to develop.

Darren Eliot, Managing Director of Marlowe Digital, explained why the company made the decision to support girls’ football in such a big way: “As a long-standing supporter of youth football, I have seen first-hand the obstacles that can often be placed in front of girls wanting to play football. Through Kings Langley’s partnership with Watford FC, I have been privileged to see Watford Women play at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium for the last five seasons and seeing the passion, dedication and quality on display week in, week out has played a big part in deciding to support this initiative.

“Kings Langley FC is a club that has always been committed to serving its local community and expanding the number of girls’ teams at the club gives us the opportunity to open the door to a whole new generation of girls who simply want the chance to play football.”

Richard Harvey, Kings Langley FC’s head of girls football, shared Darren’s enthusiasm for the project: “On behalf of the club, we’re hugely excited about what this partnership will mean to girls in the local area. As a coach of both girls’ and boys’ teams myself, I know how much more difficult it can be to find a welcoming environment for girls to play football; this partnership will mean a great deal to so many.”

Kings Langley FC expects to run over 40 youth teams in total in the 2022/23 season, ranging from U7 all the way to U18. The club’s youth section is run entirely by volunteers and has grown at a rapid rate in recent years.
