Dear Youth Team Parents, Visiting Supporters, and Other Visitors to The Orbital Fasteners Stadium,
Car parking on the roads surrounding The Orbital Fasteners Stadium has long been a challenge. However, in recent weeks we have received a significant number of complaints from local residents , not only about inconsiderate and anti-social parking, but also about instances of abuse directed at them when they have tried to address the issue.
Our football club has been a proud part of this community since 1886 and has always valued its positive relationship with our neighbours, something we are extremely proud of and are determined to maintain.
Unfortunately, that relationship is now at risk due to the behaviour of a small minority of visitors whose actions display ignorance and a sense of entitlement.
Local residents have long shown patience and understanding regarding the increased traffic associated with the club’s growth. However, this season we have seen a worrying rise in dangerous parking, including vehicles obstructing crossings, junctions, and pavements.
In several recent cases, members of our committee have had to assist elderly residents and parents with pushchairs into the 40mph roadway just to get around cars parked across footpaths. This is completely unacceptable and poses a serious safety risk. Disturbingly, there have also been instances where committee members, when attempting to address these issues directly with drivers, have been met with verbal abuse. Such behaviour towards our volunteers and community members will not be tolerated.
Please be aware that any vehicle found parking in a manner that endangers others or obstructs access will be reported to the police without exception.[b[/b]
We will soon be organising a meeting to which local residents will be invited, to discuss longer-term solutions to the ongoing parking issues around the stadium. In the meantime, we are pleading with everyone visiting the ground to help us keep the surrounding roads safe. Please think about the safety of your own children as well as others- no convenience is worth the risk of injury or worse. We do not want a tragedy on our hands.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us preserve the strong community spirit that has always been at the heart of our club.
