CLUB STATEMENT: UPDATE FROM THE BOARD

CLUB STATEMENT: UPDATE FROM THE BOARD

Dean Wigzell25 Jun - 14:39

Kings Langley FC Chairman Darren Eliot has decided to step back from his day-to-day duties at the club due to ill health.

To ensure continuity and stability across all levels of the club, Dec Eliot and Tom Sterling will immediately step into the roles of joint Vice Chair, alongside club Director/Admin, Roy Mitchard.

Together, they will oversee all key club activities, bridging the leadership across both the club’s first team and youth setups, while Darren will continue in the role of Chairman.

A Message from Darren

Darren’s recent health issues have coincided with long-term health concerns within his family, leading him to conclude the time is right to give his and his family’s health his full focus.

Darren explained: "While it is incredibly difficult for me to step away from the daily running of Kings Langley FC, my health must take priority and I believe it is in the best interests of me and my family for me to hand over the vast majority of my responsibilities at the club to others for the time being.

“I want to express my absolute confidence in Dec, Tom and Roy. Along with our incredibly dedicated committee and our first team manager Steve Heath, I know the club is in the safest possible hands.

“As some will be aware, in recent years, my wife Nickey has suffered ongoing health challenges since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, which has had an immeasurable impact on her life and on our lives as a family. The most important thing for me now is to ensure I am able to do all I can to be there for Nickey and our family.

“I also want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and my family in recent months, your well wishes are greatly appreciated by us all.”

Looking Ahead

Everyone at the club sends their warmest wishes to Darren for a speedy and full recovery. Darren’s passion and dedication have been foundational to the club, and we know how keen he will be to continue to play a key role moving forward.

Dec, Tom and Roy will work closely with the existing committee to ensure a seamless transition for the upcoming season across all levels of the club.
