CLUB STATEMENT: ROY MITCHARD STEPS DOWN FROM VICE CHAIRMAN ROLE

CLUB STATEMENT: ROY MITCHARD STEPS DOWN FROM VICE CHAIRMAN ROLE

Dean Wigzell28 Jun - 09:25

Following our recent Club Statement regarding Darren Eliot stepping back from his duties as Club Chairman, we have a further update.

Vice Chairman Roy Mitchard has taken the tough decision to step down from his responsibilities as Vice Chairman.

In a statement, he said,

“I fully understand and appreciate Darren’s decision and firmly believe that the appointment of Tom Sterling and Dec Eliot as Joint Vice Chairmen is both a sensible, necessary and exciting one.

Some may know that my wife is also suffering from extreme ill health and is now requiring constant care and attention. As such, I am no longer able to fulfil the hands-on role required and have taken this decision to give a clear pathway of responsibility for Tom and Dec, who have my total backing and support.

I will continue as Fixtures Secretary, historic and current statistical administration and as a Director of the Club and will hopefully be a continuing familiar face at as many of our games as I can manage.”

Everyone at the club would like to thank Roy for his incredible contribution over the past few decades. His dedication, commitment and tireless work have played a significant role in the club's success and development. We have no doubt that he will continue to make a valuable contribution in the roles he is retaining, and we look forward to seeing him remain an important part of the club for many years to come.

Above all, everyone at the club sends Roy, his wife and the entire family our very best wishes during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with them, and we hope they know they have the full support of everyone at the club.
