Kings Langley Football Club is rallying behind captain Alfie Osborne as he faces one of the toughest challenges of his career following a serious knee injury sustained while leading the team during an away fixture at Arlesey Town.
Alfie has suffered significant damage to his ACL, MCL and meniscus, an injury that will require major surgery followed by an estimated 12 months of rehabilitation. It is a long and demanding road ahead — physically, mentally and financially.
A stalwart of the non-league game, Alfie has made over 400 appearances for clubs across the local area, giving everything each time he pulls on a shirt. His commitment, leadership and passion have earned him the respect of teammates, supporters and opponents alike, and those qualities were on full display as he captained Kings Langley at the time of the injury.
Unlike the professional game seen at the highest level, non-league footballers balance their football with full-time careers away from the pitch. When a serious injury occurs, the impact stretches far beyond matchdays — it can affect a player’s ability to work, earn a living and support their family, all while facing the costs of surgery and recovery.
To help support Alfie through this challenging period, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to assist with surgery and rehabilitation costs. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference and help ease the burden during the months ahead.
The club encourages all supporters, friends and members of the wider football community to come together and show Alfie the same support he has shown so many times on the pitch.
