Life in the Premier continues to be sweet for a cultured Kings Langley side as they swept past London Colney, building on a quick fire opener after 3 minutes. A searching cross was cleared by the Colney defence, but fell to Connor Toomey 25 yards out. Controlled and volleyed in one sublime movement, his defence splitting pass gave Alex Campana time to pick his spot to beat Jack Smith. The home side continued on the offensive with a Toomey shot just wide, but were to double their lead when Benny Fiadzomor beat his man on the right wing to cross low for Campana to be initially foiled by Smith, but convert the rebound from a prone position. Fiadzomor blasted over from close range before Martin Collins put the visitors’ first real goal attempt wide after 25 minutes and Nick Taylor headed a Tom Carter cross over at the other end. Ant Ladyman held a Clarke-Mardell shot well, before the first corner saw the referee wave away Colney’s frantic hand ball appeals. Danny Hutchins opened the second half with a vicious low volley that brought the best out of Smith, but the visitors gradually began to assert themselves and a long period of pressure culminated in Jimmy Warner’s run and powerful shot appearing to have beaten the advancing Ant Ladyman. But the Kings number one twisted in mid-air to punch the ball to safety and the visitors’ potential comeback declined as Dan Power was dismissed for foul language thirteen minutes from time and Sam Doolan brought down the flying Mitchell Weiss for Danny Hutchins to power home the penalty and confirm a polished victory.
