No. 10 Saturday 13th September 2014. Spartan South Midlands League – Premier Division
Berkhamsted 1 (Mannion 12)
Kings Langley 1 (Campana 82)
A glorious Callum Adebiyi through ball virtually from the kick off saw Alex Campana nearly draw first blood after 18 seconds and a lively start saw the home team come close, before Warren Plowright split the defence again, only for Adebiyi to fire high and wide. But it was Berkhamsted who opened the scoring on twelve minutes when Charlie Hoskins’ less than impressive clearance was intercepted by B J Christie. Jack Pattison made a superb recovery tackle, but the ball fell kindly to Adiel Mannion, who netted with ease. Hoskins atoned with two flying saves as Kings stuttered, their cause not helped by two more worrying injuries, both Lee Burgoyne and Ollie Cox having to be substituted by the half hour mark. The half time talk must have been a good one, as Kings steadied and came back into the game and although the Comrades wasted a couple of good chances, Benny Fiadzomor had a great opportunity with a header at the other end. Berkhamsted became more anxious as they failed to find the vital second and with Kings always looking dangerous on the counter attack, the equalizer came with just eight minutes of normal time remaining. Luke Ladyman chased a long pass to the left hand corner flag and his raking cross was helped on to Alex Campana by a Langley head. The striker collected the ball, turned a defender and angled a low shot into the far corner of the net. Jamie Gavin missed an opportunity and Charlie Hoskins turned a James Baldry piledriver over the bar, while Danny Hutchins sight of goal was off target, before the final whistle sounded on an uncompromising match with honours even.
