Ampthill Town 0
Kings Langley 5 (Jackson 51,64, Adebiyi 54, Campana 59, Atkins 83)
Bottom of the table Ampthill Town gave a spirited performance and held Kings to a scoreless first half, mainly due to the visitor’s’ wastefulness in front of goal. Daryl Atkins set the tone, robbing Draycott, but shooting over on 13 minutes and Danny Hutchins followed suit soon after. The pair had further chances but found keeper Jonathan Webb in fine form, while Wilson tested Mayson Tewkesbury in a rare home attack. With the break fast approaching, Town were to find that when you’re down, fortune often doesn’t care, as Derwayne Stupple’s second yellow for a clumsy foul gave the referee little option but to also brandish a red. Once Nick Jackson had fired in an acute shot following a build up by Tom Carter and Danny Hutchins that finally beat the keeper off a defender, the floodgates opened and Kings were four up thirteen minutes later. Jackson teased and turned his marker to deliver a perfect cross for a thundering Callum Adebiyi header and then a Daryl Atkins cross saw Alex Campana pick his spot to blast home. When a shot was cleared off the line, Hutchins pulled the ball back across goal and Nick Jackson hit a low powerful volley through a crowded box to cap a man of the match performance with his second. Ampthill went to the end, second half sub Jordan Batchelor executing two superb goal-saving tackles and restricting Kings to a late fifth when Billy Stevens battled for the ball and delivered a through pass for Daryl Atkins to dribble round the keeper. For Langley it was a third consecutive clean sheet, but tougher tests will lie ahead.
