No. 23 Tuesday 12th November 2013. SSML – Division 1 Cup – Round 2
Kings Langley 7 (Insley 13,38, Pritchard 19,24,71, Hallissey 90+2, Johnson 90+4)
Wodson Park 1 (Carles 11)
Normal service was resumed as Kings Langley exorcised the memory of the previous match with an impressive, all action display to advance to the quarter final of the Division 1 Cup, where they will be away to Baldock Town. It took an early goal from Park to jolt them into life, as the ball fell kindly for Ben Carles on the left and his angled shot beat the advancing Steve Bourke, Kings’ second debutant keeper in the space of three days. From then on, the alternative strike partnership of Lewis Pritchard and Paul Insley tore the visitors apart as Insley deflected Pritchard’s shot to equalize, Pritchard demonstrated an exquisite turn to beat James Sturgeon and when Insley’s shot was well parried by Sturgeon, Pritchard headed home the rebound. The constant closing down of space and the pace of Kings’ passing was breath-taking and Park had to wait until the fortieth minute before Munoz had a shot on goal. Connor Toomey closed the half by rattling the crossbar, but minutes after the restart, a sublime Prichard backward flick set up Insley for his second. When the visitors contributed to their own woes with a poor back pass, Lewis Pritchard gratefully accepted the invitation to coolly round the keeper and complete his hat-trick, before injury time saw two more goals, with Adam Hallissey finishing Paul Insley’s chip and Jack Johnson launching himself to a Callum Adebiyi cross.
