No. 12 Tuesday 24th September 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Amersham Town 2 (Ben Higham 31, Dan Tomlin 83)
Kings Langley 4 (Alex Campana 5, 13, 75, Connor Toomey 59)
Alex Campana inspired Kings to a much needed victory at Amersham to get their League challenge back on track. Starting for the first time, he latched on to a through pass from Jack Johnson to coolly steer the ball past James Weatherill in the fifth minute. Adam Hallissey thought he’d doubled the lead a minute later, but was ruled offside, before a Sam Warrell crossfield pass was flighted into the area by Jack Johnson and drilled through a crowd of players by Alex Campana. Craig Preston hit the bar with a header and Kings were playing some exhilarating football, but showed their familiar frailty at set pieces when Ben Higham replicated Kings’ second following a corner. The home team had a good spell either side of half time, but Langley were in no mood to let a two goal lead slip again and raised their game to get the vital third on the hour when Campana turned his marker on the right and crossed for Connor Toomey to volley home a shot from just inside the area. The irrepressible Alex Campana then completed a hat trick with a controlled lob over the outcoming keeper, before Daniel Tomlin fired a well taken consolation for Town, whose spirited performance belied their league position.
