No. 24 Saturday 16th November 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 1 (Pritchard 63)
Langford 1 (Ideoili 21)
Langford may sit bottom of the table, but having signed several new players, it looks likely to be a temporary position, after a battling performance earned them a valuable point and affected Kings’ promotion drive. The first twenty minutes belonged to the home side, but for all their possession in the opposite half they made little impression apart from a Dean Hitchcock drive tipped over by Adam Harpur. They were then caught cold by a Langford break following a home corner and Junior Ideoili did well to hold off a challenge and slot home. Langley resumed the assault with a Ben Long twenty yarder tipped over and a superb double save by Harpur from Adam Hallissey and Tom Carter. The half closed with Paul Insley scooping a close range effort over and on resumption Jack Pattison’s shot was well held by the inspired Harpur. Langford still looked dangerous on the break and Ben Catanach fired just over, but a double substitution gave Kings the lifeline back as Paul Insley brought another tremendous save from Harpur, but the rebound fell for Lewis Pritchard to hammer in his fourth goal in two games. As Kings threw everything at Langford, Lee Burgoyne’s shot was just wide, but the final five minutes brought controversy as Kings were sure that Jack Johnson’s blocked shot had crossed the line and a goal was ruled out for an offside decision that was marginal to say the least. Frustration for Kings, but reward for Langford, who inspired by skipper Ryan Ellis, held firm to make a point.
