No. 19 Tuesday 22nd October 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 4 (Toomey 35, Connolly 38, Hitchcock 84, Pritchard 85)
Stony Stratford Town 0
Stony Stratford came with a caretaker manager and occupying a position in the bottom two, but stunned Kings with the ferocity of their opening burst, forcing a series of corners that saw Ant Ladyman punching away and culminating with Deanio Bailey-Brown’s effort grazing the top angle. Kings experience enabled them to ride the storm and as the half hour approached, they registered a trio of chances of their own. Then Jack Johnson won the ball back on the right wing and his run and cross was flicked home on the half volley by Connor Toomey. Minutes later a contestant for Kings’ goal of the season was served up by Gary Connolly, whose thirty yard slalom took him through at least three defenders’ tackles before picking his spot past the bemused Jack Taylor. A spectacular thunderstorm and tropical downpour greeted the second half, but Kings were now in control and Joe Gallagher’s twenty yard shot came back off the post, while Jack Johnson netted while offside. In the last five minutes Kings again produced a quick fire brace of goals with Dean Hitchcock putting in his own claim for spectacular goal award as he delivered a stunning 25 yard rocket that was so accurate that it must have whispered to both the bar and the post in the top right corner as it entered the net. Mitchell Weiss delivered a crisp pass to enable his fellow substitute Lewis Pritchard to chip the keeper a minute later and Kings emerged from the storm with the points to sustain their challenge.
