No. 13 Saturday 28th September 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 11 (Hallissey 18,55,63, C Toomey 19, Carter 37,53,64, Campana 73,79,90+2, Pritchard 82 )
Harpenden Town 1 (Hunt 33)
The game had a potential for goals from the first minute, with Alex Campana narrowly wide and Ant Ladyman bringing off a superb save, before Kings struck twice in a minute. A Tom Carter cross was converted by Adam Hallissey on the run and a Campana cross enabled Connor Toomey to find the corner of the net. Town came back for Tommy Burns to hit the bar and Harry Hunt convert the rebound, but Kings responded with a Campana corner headed home on the line by Tom Carter. As half time beckoned, Tony Golder was dismissed for a scything tackle on Jack Johnson that was more mistimed than malicious and Kings went for the jugular in the second half. A textbook move saw Alex Campana play Johnson in with a diagonal ball behind the defence and the cross was forced in by Tom Carter. A poor clearance was seized on by Adam Hallissey to round the keeper and score and Gary Connolly’s through ball enabled him to reprise the move for his hat-trick. Campana repeated the earlier textbook move, this time for Connolly to provide the cross for Tom Carter to complete an unlikely hat trick for a wing back. Alex Campana was not to be outdone and guided home a Callum Adebiyi pull back, rifled in a Connolly cross and glided through three challenges to net in the last minute. Lewis Pritchard capped a good cameo with a goal set up by a neat interchange with Paul Insley and the only blot on the day was the loss of Sam Warrell to a potentially serious injury that saw the last twelve minutes played as ten-a-side.
