No. 6 Tuesday 27th August 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Bedford 3 (Jamie Cole 37 pen, Chris Johnson 65, 72 )
Kings Langley 3 (Joe Gallagher 9, 19, Adam Hallissey 81)
Kings went top of Division 1 after this result, but were left ruing dropped points after failing to build on early dominance. Joe Gallagher hit a stunning 20 yard drive into the top corner after a five man interpassing move across the face of goal after ten minutes and went one better after the same time span. Tom Carter won the ball, fed a short pass to Gallagher, who beat one man and, with minimum backlift, bent a rising left foot trajectory into the net . With Gary Connolly and Sam Warrell running midfield and Dean Hitchcock solid in defence, Kings turned on the style, Tom Carter grazing the bar, but two goals is seldom enough at Bedford and when Ricardo Bailey brought down Ashley Kersey, Jamie Cole gratefully tucked away the penalty. The hosts looked a different team in the second half and began to match their visitors passing repertoire and when Luigi Rocco beat Bailey to a fifty-fifty ball to play in Chris Johnson, their tails were up. The initiative was now with them and Johnson echoed Gallagher’s early strike, picking his spot after the ball had been worked across goal. But Kings were in no mood to walk away empty handed after this display and Carter hit the post with a close range effort, before sub Adam Hallissey latched on to a poor clearance to lob the keeper and take the point they deserved.
