No. 43 1st April 2013. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1 Cup – Semi Final
Kings Langley 2 (Adam Hallissey 47, Joe Gallagher 77)
Cockfosters 1 (Adam Bolger 90)
Kings Langley progressed to the Final of the Division 1 Cup for the second successive season with a powerful yet controlled performance against high flying Cockfosters. The first half was an intriguing affair as both sides sounded each other out. Chances were few, with the visitors scrambling the ball off their goal line in the fourth minute, shots by Ben Long and Joe Gallagher comfortably taken and off target finishes for Ben Hammond and Stuart Blackburne at the other end. Langley got the start they wanted to the second half when Ben Long collected the ball in midfield and chipped it forward to Sam Warrell. The playmaker swept the ball out to Joe Gallagher in the inside left position and his cushioned header was straight into the path of Adam Hallissey, who steered the ball past Tautis Poniskaitis from six yard out. Kings could now see the Final beckoning and when the prolific Edmund Protain, well marshalled by skipper Craig Preston all afternoon, screwed a chance wide, they virtually clinched the tie when a quick Sam Warrell free kick down the middle found the head of Joe Gallagher. The forward got the faintest of touches, marginally ahead of the advancing keeper and the ball rolled agonisingly slowly over the line. Alan Bolger ensured a tense three minutes of time added on when he turned in a cross after a good spell by the visitors, but the day belonged to the home side, whose superb all round performance deservedly lined up a final at Tring on May 4th against Codicote or Stony Stratford.
