No. 49 15th April 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Wodson Park 2 (Jordan Halls 59, Mason Todd 63)
Kings Langley 7 (Adam Hallissey 9, 26, Jimmy Armstrong 32, 37, 55, 90+1, Joe Gallagher 83)
Kings were quickly into their stride, dominating proceedings from the start and they were rewarded when a superb cross field pass by Sam Warrell to Jimmy Armstrong split the Wodson defence, allowing the striker to pull the ball back for Adam Hallissey to convert smartly at the far post. Armstrong was again the provider to his strike partner in the 28th minute when his quickly taken free kick put Hallissey clear of the defence to convert with the aid of a deflection. In the 33rd minute it was Armstrong’s turn to get on the score sheet when an excellent run and pass by Callum Adebiyi allowed the striker to convert with a low left foot shot to the corner of the net. Armstrong was again on hand just five minutes later to take advantage of a mix-up in the home defence, prodding home from close range. Kings were soon in the ascendancy in the second half when Jack Johnson proved too quick for the home defence, who could only thwart the nimble full back at the expense of a penalty which Armstrong converted confidently to complete his hat trick. With such a comfortable score line, Kings almost inevitably relaxed and allowed the home side to grab the initiative and score two goals in rapid succession to briefly raise hopes of a dramatic comeback. However Kings galvanised themselves and were soon back in control, both Ben Long and Jack Johnson hitting the crossbar, while a brief cameo by co-manager Richie Hanlon, replacing the injured Jack Pattison, was ended after just 12 minutes. Kings finished the match strongly with first substitute Gallagher side footing home after Armstrong was yet again the instigator of the opportunity. Gallagher then returned the favour by turning provider to allow Armstrong to complete a remarkable personal tally for the match of four goals and three ‘assists’ and leave the prolific striker tantalisingly on the 99 goal mark for Kings Langley.
