No. 4 18th August 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Kings Langley 3 (Nathan Pooley 40,Gary Connolly 77, Sam Warrell 84)
Sun Postal Sports 3 (Ricki Figuera 49, Bertie Squires-Adams 61, Ade Kelani 90)
Sun denied Kings the three points on their opening League fixture with a a spirited display, equalizing in the last minute, although down to ten men. They opened the better, having two goal attempts in the first three minutes, but it was Sam Warrell who came closest in a poor first half, having a shot just wide after 10 minutes and seeing Aldi Haxhia tip a free kick round the post on 37 minutes. Nathan Pooley’s free kick from the right put Kings in front for the interval, and although a Scott Bonner header was well saved on resumption, it was Ricki Figuera who equalized with an inswinging corner off the far post. Kings responded well, Craig Lynskey having a shot parried and Tom Carter putting two good chances off target, but were stunned when Bertie Squires-Adams broke well on the left and delivered a powerful shot into the top corner of the net. Edwin Twesigomwe was sent off for a second yellow on 73 minutes and Kings gratefully accepted the lifeline, with Jack Johnson’s rasping cross being diverted in by Gary Connolly for an equalizer. Ade Kelani thought he’d won a penalty, but was booked for his trouble and when Sam Warrell hit a trademark low shot home through a crowded box, it seemed game over. But Sun’s ten men had other ideas and Squires-Adams hit the bar with a free kick before Kelani duplicated his side’s second goal to give them a deserved share of the point and leave Kings with several questions to ponder.
