No. 29 15th December 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
New Bradwell St Peter 1 (Kyle McNulty 21)
Kings Langley 3 (Jimmy Armstrong 13 pen, 29, Craig Lynskey 90+4)
Tom Carter set the pattern for Kings’ missed chances with a point blank header wide after 45 seconds, but the visitors went ahead with a Jimmy Armstrong penalty after Jack Pattison’s strong free kick from outside the box seemed to become lodged in the protecting arms of a defender in the wall. Ashley Harewood had a shot well tipped round the post by Sam Jay, before a familiar defensive lapse saw a free kick by Kyle McNulty elude everyone for the equalizer. Kings hit back with the move of the match, Jack Johnson putting the ball back to Nathan Pooley, whose first time pass set Tom Carter free down the left and his cross to Jimmy Armstrong gave the striker time to pick his spot. The second half was short on quality as Jimmy Armstrong lobbed the keeper, but hit the post, put a close range header over and Craig Lynskey beat the keeper but saw his finish roll just past the post. The latter blazed over when a pass to Armstrong would have been more effective, but almost immediately chose the right option, only to see the League’s leading goalscorer screw a sitter wide. The pair finally got it right in injury time when Armstrong found Jack Johnson’s intelligent forward run and the winger squared for Lynskey to net from close range. Kings were well below their best, resorting to the long ball down the middle far too often, while the division’s basement team showed a commitment that kept them in the hunt for a share of the points until the very end.
