No. 7 28th August 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Kings Langley 4 (Shaun Owens 21, Jimmy Armstrong 38,44, Craig Lynskey61)
New Bradwell St Peter 1 (Jamie Cox 68)
Kings produced one of the best footballing displays seen at Gaywood Park for many seasons as their possession and interpassing left the Peters chasing shadows. Four resulting goal chances ensued, two by Evan Connolly and two by Jimmy Armstrong, before a classic move began with Jack Johnson surging out of defence, passing to Sam Warrell, who put the ball in the path of Jimmy Armstrong on the right, and his cross was met with a midair volley by Shaun Owens for his third consecutive strike. Jimmy Armstrong missed a penalty, before atoning with two goals in the space of six minutes, the first a glancing header from an interpassing move between Sam Warrell and Shaun Owens and the second when he took a through ball from Jack Johnson to superbly turn the defender and guide the ball past the keeper. Kings lost Sam Warrell, Gary Coyle and Callum Adebiyi through injury in the second half, but with all five substitutes having the quality to expect a first team place, there was little disruption. A Nathan Pooley free kick was superbly tipped over by James Howarth, a feat immediately emulated by Dan Rice from a Jamie Cox chip, before Craig Lynskey took a pass on the left, cut back, beat two defenders and netted a fine individual goal with a low shot. Jamie Cox pulled one back with a free kick, while Jimmy Armstrong pursued a hat trick to the final minute when he had a shot cleared off the line. Line-up (4-4-2)
