No. 19 13th October 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Langford 2 (Jamie Osborne 35, Ryan Ellis 41)
Kings Langley 1 (Jack Johnson 90+7)
The first chance fell to Jimmy Armstrong on the quarter of an hour mark, when he rounded the keeper but was forced wide by a defender. Langford replied with a long range shot from Dean Auburn and Sakho Bakare did likewise, before the home side’s Louis Taylor beat two defenders but was thwarted by Ant Ladyman in goal. However, five minutes later he proved a handful again and this time his low cross was converted by Jamie Osborne. Kings went further behind when a free kick on the edge of the area was headed home by central defender Ryan Ellis, and closed the half with newly introduced Craig Lynskey put through by Sam Warrell, only to see his shot go the wrong side of the post. As the second half began, Dean Auburn spurned another cross from Taylor and another Warrell-Lynskey move finished with the ball over the bar. As the visitors continued to fail to find a finish, Jimmy Armstrong was off target with a Jack Johnson cross. The same pair combined again to finally find the net, this time Johnson taking Armstrong’s pass on the wing to cut inside and beat keeper Grant Beckwith, but with 97 minutes on the clock, it was little or no consolation. Kings continue to play neat attractive football, having the greater possession, but without a cutting edge, and with a seeming inability to keep a clean sheet, the away day blues continue.
