No. 18 6th October 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Kings Langley 2 (Joe Gallagher 15, Nathan Pooley 22)
Kentish Town 2 (Joe Fox 69, Jordan McFarlane 75)
Kentish Town belied their lowly league position, coming out with all guns blazing, as Sean Flaherty fired a chance over the bar and Joe Fox headed wide in the first four minutes. Kings hit back with Joe Gallagher and then Nathan Pooley giving Sakho Bakare through balls that the keeper did well to save, before a weaving run into the box by Pooley saw his blocked shot fall to Gallagher, who drove the ball home. When the keeper attempted to chest down a loose through ball minutes later and presented Nathan Pooley with an open goal, Kings looked to be in control, although Town continued to have their chances, with Austin’s shot just wide and Adrian Dubovecky lobbing both keeper and bar. The ever dangerous Pooley replied with a shot cleared off the line, before the visitors began the second half as they had the first, with Tarek Azwai’s goal-bound shot cleared by Callum Adebiyi. Jimmy Armstrong had a shot tipped over, but whether through complacency or the input from the visitors, they were now struggling to replicate their first half performance and lacked creativity. A tactical change to three at the back on sixty five minutes preceded a change to the scoreline – but unfortunately to the credit of Town, as Joe Fox found space on the left to cut in and put a shot into the far corner of the net. When the away skipper was sent off for something seen by the referee’s assistant, it should have been enough to get Kings out of jail, but as Town continued to attack, an uncharacteristic error by Ross Hampton allowed McFarlane in for the equalizer, leaving Kings to reflect on two points disappointingly lost in a wretched second half performance.
