No. 22 3rd November 2012. Spartan South Midlands League - Division 1
Kings Langley 3 (Jimmy Armstrong 19,58, Sakho Bakare 53)
Cranfield United 3 (Jamie Green 31, Sam Evans 33, James Kelly-McLellan 62)
Kings dropped home points again in an entertaining match against Cranfield, despite leading twice. Tom Carter, making a rare start, had a trademark long shot just wide, before missing a close range header, while at the other end James Kelly-McLellan put just as good a chance wide of the post. Kings still looked the more likely and on twenty minutes, debutant Ben Long fed Jimmy Armstrong on the right wing and the striker showed composure to round two defenders and fire in the opener. Sakho Bakare’s mid-air volley was just wide and Kings seemed comfortable until the game changed on the half hour. Jamie Green showed equal composure to ride three tackles and give Under 18 keeper Andy Burnell no chance on his debut and two minutes later Luke Williamson’s inch perfect cross enabled Sam Evans to finish in style. Kings struggled to get back in to it either side of the break, but suddenly the pendulum swung again as a Jack Pattison run and first time cross was well flighted for Sakho Bakare to rise and head home the equalizer, while five minutes later a Sam Warrell through ball resulted in a 50-50 clash between Jimmy Armstrong and keeper Dan Green and the striker recovered first to slot the ball home. In the ascendancy, Kings again failed to close the game out as the Cranes came back and Andy Burnell produced a fantastic save to keep them out. Relief was short lived as Kelly-McLellan forced the ball home from the resultant corner, and as both sides went for the winner, Burnell tipped a fierce Manny Richardson shot over the bar and Tom Carter’s strong run and shot flashed agonizingly past the post.
