No. 47 11th April 2013. Spartan South Midlands League – Division 1
Kings Langley 1 (Adam Hallissey 70)
Amersham Town 0
Kings Langley made eight changes from the previous night’s match, while Amersham had played twenty four hours previously. A classic was never on the cards, but Town, desperate for points at the wrong end of the table, gave a determined performance that held Kings at bay until the seventieth minute. They had an early chance for an upset when Liam Tack broke but was forced too wide for a meaningful shot, while Luke Ladyman had a shot cleared off the line at the other end. Chances fell to Kamil Rosiak, Tom Carter, Adam Hallissey and Jimmy Armstrong, but Martin Griggs brought a fine tip-over from Ant Ladyman and Justin Hockley fired over. For all that, the half ended goal-less and continued to look a likely scoreline until a deflection fell to Jimmy Armstrong on the right wing and his low cross found the predatory Adam Hallissey at the far post to break the deadlock. With the returning Craig Preston and Luke Ladyman nullifying visiting attacks down the centre and Ritchie Hanlon pulling the strings with the combative Jack Pattison in defensive midfield, Kings searched for the decisive second, but the visitors refused to concede, Joe Gallagher having a shot cleared from the goal-line and a Hanlon rocket well saved by James Weatherill. When the keeper body-checked Jimmy Armstrong outside the box when the striker was about to go through, he was lucky to only receive a caution, but this was merely detail, with Kings happy to take three points and Amersham spirits surely heightened by a performance that belied their current standing.
