Paul Hobbs signed off as Kings Langley manager with a workmanlike victory over Buckingham Athletic, that confirmed a fourth place finish in Division 1. Both sides positions at opposite ends of the table would remain unaltered, so it was a somewhat featureless first half, before a head wound to Steve Noonan saw him finish his season requiring hospital attention. Kings upped the tempo and headers from Matt Collier and Tom Carter went close, before Jimmy Armstrong and Jack Johnson had efforts consecutively cleared off the line. Gary Connolly finally broke the deadlock with a dipping 25 yard shot that grazed the underside of the bar. The final minutes produced a bizarre pinball sequence as two headers from Jimmy Armstrong were blocked on the line before his third attempt found the net to register his 58th and final goal of the season. Kings were left to reflect on a highly successful season, finishing just outside the promotion slots and reaching three finals, and to pay tribute to the retiring Paul Hobbs for three great seasons in which he has given so much to the Club.
